Hear from intern alumni

Hear from the interns

Interns come from all over the country to gain practical, hands-on experience in trading support, client service, portfolio construction, and financial planning. The program also gives our interns an opportunity to interact with advisors at events and the chance to experience the inner workings of an RIA office to learn how advisors manage their businesses. Of the RIA Internship Program alumni currently employed, nearly half have positions with RIA firms.

Here are a few words from some of our alumni:

Spreading awareness and educating students on the benefits and opportunities in this industry will help empower the next generation of advisors. If students are introduced to the industry during their college careers, it can set them up for success at your firm upon their graduation.

Hailey Leister, University of Arizona

For anyone who's a little unsure of where they want to go in finance or wealth management, the internship from Schwab is a great place to learn all about the industry.

Shane O'Hara, University of Central Florida

It was such a rewarding experience to have a broad exposure to a variety of RIAs—learning the details of how they work, day in and day out. I was exposed to RIAs of a range of structures, sizes, principals, etc., by going to the EXPLORE® conference. You'll be able to build your network and ask the questions you wanted to ask. It really makes this internship experience unique.

Jenna Josephs, University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign

The people you meet and the resources you gain are just as invaluable as the information you learn.

Kyle Demshki, New York University
