What's New: Status/Alerts

Schwab Advisor Center® has digital tools and resources to help you onboard new relationships, support your clients, and scale your business. Below you can learn about the latest enhancements and resources, or explore recent updates by clicking on a topic.

Overview

The Status page on the Activity tab is the best way to track submitted requests, documents, and other interactions with Schwab. The page provides at-a-glance information about any issues requiring attention, and you can drag-and-drop documents and add text notesall from one convenient interface.

Overview Status page

Changes to the processing of paper forms

We're changing the way we process paper-based submissions, making this a great time to switch over to our digital tools, which represent the fastest, most secure method to do everything from opening accounts to initiating move money transactions.

Starting in June, we are using new technology to process paper-based requests. To ensure requests are processed, please follow these guidelines:

  • Our automated system will not process handwritten instructions, so please avoid handwritten forms and special requests in the margins of the documents you submit.
  • If you can't use a digital workflow, be sure the form you're submitting is recently downloaded from the Forms & Applications page on Schwab Advisor Center; out-of–date forms require longer processing times.

Choose to be notified when a request requires action or is resolved

New notification options available on the Service Request tab let you choose to receive an email notification when your request is flagged as having "Action Needed" or "Resolved" status, helping you stay informed and make changes as required. You can also set these notifications on the Status tab, in the Action column, by choosing the Set Notifications option.

These notifications will trigger for all submissions within the request. For example, if you submitted a new account, and options form, and a transfer of assets in a single service request, you will receive emails based on the status of each of those submissions.

You can save your notification preferences for future service requests by clicking the gear icon in the upper-right hand corner of the screen and clicking the checkbox next to the notification settings to which you want to default.

To make your notification settings the default for future submissions, click the Set Default Values link, then click the boxes in the Customize Service Request popup and click Save. Check the boxes under Notification Settings on the Service Requests tab to receive notifications about these changes in status.

Introducing an all-new enhanced alerts experience

We have completely redesigned the Alerts tab, giving it a new look and making it easier to read and manage your alerts.

Besides a fresh layout, we've added new functionality. The new alerts experience offers enhanced customization and filtering, making it easier to find what matters to you. We've added the highly requested ability to filter at the alerts subject level, and search results now filter as you type any keyword, name, or number.

In addition, you no longer need to navigate to a new page to view messages—they're now displayed directly on the Alerts tab.

Other updates include:

  • Easy archiving—you won't have to view an alert before archiving it.
  • Quick search filters—you can now use one click to quickly identify Action Needed and High Priority messages.

"Message from Schwab Team" replaces multiple existing "Team Notice" headers

A new alert type on Schwab Advisor Center® consolidates and replaces a number of alerts that were previously labeled as "Team Notice." The new alert type, "Message from Schwab Team," simplifies the way that alerts are displayed on the Alerts tab, making it easier to find and act on important information from your service professionals.

Please note that any alerts you've received under the Team Notice heading will remain visible on the Alerts page after this change.

All users are automatically subscribed to these new alerts, and you can tailor your alerts settings using the Customization option.

To find a variety of alerts sent by your Schwab team, use the “Message from Schwab Team” type, and then filter by subject.

Now, view all major status types at the firm level in one place

Over recent months, the Status page has been upgraded to allow you to view all major request types in a single place. Now, you can view all of these requests at a firm level as well.

While in a firm-level view, simply navigate to the Status page on the Activity tab to view all in-process requests for your firm. This firm view is in addition to the previously available views at the master, account, and group levels.

Remember that you can use another recent enhancement to the Status page to update in-process requests using the Update Request feature.

When you visit the Status page while in a firm-level view, you can now view the status of all in-process requests.

Status for all major request types now available in a single view

Now, you can view the status of all transfers of assets, including mutual funds, from the Status page on the Activity tab. With this update, you can view status at the master, account, and group levels. Firm-level status is in development and will be available in the coming months.

Previously, ACT and some other transfer types were visible on the TOA page on the Activity tab. This page, which is no longer being updated with new requests after mid-June, is scheduled to be phased out.

Remember that you can use another recent enhancement to the Status page to update in-process requests using the Update Request feature.

Now that TOA requests appear on the main Status page, the dedicated TOA page will no longer be updated, and it will eventually be phased out of the Activity tab.

More information and more customization make Status even better

You can now view your custom status groups on the Status page. Your custom groups allow you to view status for subsets of accounts within a master, or for accounts that bridge multiple masters, making it easier than ever to track important requests at a glance.

In addition, we've added retirement distributions to the page, meaning that the status of virtually all Move Money transactions can now be viewed in one place.

Look for more enhancements to the Status page in the coming months.

As part of our ongoing effort to deliver the information you need about open requests in one streamlined interface, we recently introduced major enhancements to the Status page that offer more information and the ability to act on not-in-good-order (NIGO) errors.

Now, we have a video demo in which a Schwab expert walks you through the most important changes.

Any errors with account open, move money, and account maintenance requests will be visible from the main Status page.

Other enhancements include:

  • The ability to add text-based information to an existing request with the new message field in much the same way that you could already add documents to these requests.
  • You can now find status information for new accounts, estates, and move money requests on the Status page.

We will continue to enhance the Status page. Check back here to keep up with new features in the coming months.

We’ve updated the Status page on the Activity tab in Schwab Advisor Center® to make it easier for you to get a comprehensive view of your important move money and account maintenance requests, and to let you add important documents requests you’ve submitted.

Enhancements to the Status page include:

  • In addition to wires, now you can view the progress of check, journal, and MoneyLink requests.
  • We’ve expanded the range of account maintenance transactions you can view to include a variety of cost basis-related requests, as well as SLOA setups.
  • Now, you can add important documents to your in-progress requests, even after they have been submitted for processing.
  • Enhanced search and filter options make it easier to find specific requests quickly and easily.
  • In addition, we are making upgrades within our internal document routing systems at Schwab that will allow us to identify forms and automate the process of creating work requests.

Our enhanced electronic workflows and Service Request tools are the best, most secure, most error-free tools for submitting documents and requests to Schwab. We will add other requests and transaction types to the new Activity tab over the coming months. The best way to stay up-to-date with these enhancements is through the What’s New page.
